No matter how long the cruise is, the cost of thehotel plus the cost of their parking and shuttle service will be more expensivethan the cost of parking at the Port. There are two Los Angeles cruise ports – the World Cruise Center in San Pedro and Carnival’s terminal in Long Beach. See here for information on the Long Beach Cruise Terminal. As you can see, there isplenty of parking in or near the Port of Los Angeles.

If you intend on taking your car to the World Cruise Center, below are driving directions to the terminal.

It seems like a steep price atfirst, but it’s actually very reasonably priced compared to most cruise ports. You can pay in cash or with a card, and you don’t pay until you’re leaving. Of course, all three of thoselots cost money, and that price can add up quickly. Free parking is available, but the trade-off isthat none of the free parking lots are within easy walking distance of theCruise Terminal. If you feel a little nervousabout using a business’s parking lot while you’re away on a cruise, check outthe parking lot at 22nd Street and Miner Street. It’s further from the Cruise Center than the otheroptions, but it has easier access to public transportation.

The parking lot youchoose all depends on the duration of your cruise, your budget, and youroverall vacation plans. The parking options we’vecovered already are excellent- they offer convenience and security, but theycan be expensive. For the budget-minded traveler they can easily be too much.Fortunately, there are plenty of free parking options available, if you knowwhere to look. The parking lot accommodates the famous Cruise Center located in San Pedro. The next closest Amtrak train service is at Union Station in Los Angeles, which is a 30-minute drive or an hour and a half Amtrak bus ride.

It’s abig enough parking lot that this isn’t likely to cause problems. Berth 95 at the San Pedro cruise terminal also holds the San Pedro Amtrak station. Note that there are no trains that run through the San Pedro Catalina Terminal station but connecting buses do. The Route 1B Amtrak buses can then take you to various other locations. So if you have a week-long cruise, expect to pay about $160. In general, if you plan to stay in the LA area for an extra night or two anyway, we highly recommend using this tip to save some cash on your parking.
